New book: Prep: The Parent's Guide to Boarding Schools

There hasn’t been a book on boarding schools in a while—but there is a new one out. I got it on Amazon and so far, it’s really interesting and has some good info on strategies and how the admissions offices review applications. Would be nice to see some discussion here on it. There is also a chapter on sports and sports recruiting at boarding school. Has anyone else read it?

I haven’t read it, but just wondering if it is only focused on the ultra competitive admission schools, or does it talk about hidden gems and finding the right fit?

It was published yesterday, so my guess is that nobody has read it (who didn’t get an advance copy).

Good to have another resource, especially for folks who aren’t in an environment with school or private counselors.

I got it from my library, but had it reserved so I was able to get it on publication date!

Not just ultra selective, it has info on learning support schools, lower cost schools, etc. I have been reading the sports section since it has some good info there, and on dance programs

Any chance you are the author, same first name?

Editing to add: not that that would stop me from reading the book. Just curious.

Was just going to say the same thing…a little sus…
I have no problem with people promoting their own work but would prefer them to be honest about it.
This book does look like it is filling a gap in publishing, and will probably be helpful to many families who can’t afford to hire a private consultant. The author has also written books on college admissions and taking a gap year, and is smart to tap into this market.

I’m not the author of the book but I’m interning in publishing and helping get the book to libraries and other places. I actually did get it from both the library and amazon since I am working on this project!
