new book recommendation

So I was in the middle of reading two different books
Bill Brysons * a short history of nearly everything* and
Dave Eggers A heartbreaking work of staggering genius
when my Powells book order arrived containing Garth Steins new book
how Evan broke his head and other secrets
I had really enjoyed his mystery novel Raven stole the moon and so I took * just a peek* into this new book instead of saving it for an upcoming trip & I couldn’t put it down.

I admit there are a couple things that don’t ring true or aren’t as fully explained as I like ( I am so picky), the main protaganists ex girlfriend being both a Mormon and a potential Reedie is one of them. I have hard time seeing a Mormon family, even one that drinks sending their first born to Reed- how is she going to meet a nice young man preparing for his mission?
But otherwise it is very engrossing and the characters are well drawn and I like supporting newish writers instead of the same old stuff.
