<p>The research program led by Dr. Laura Glynn, Chapman U associate professor of psychology, whose studies focus on various issues relating to pregnancy and fetal and child development has a new research center/permanent home. This program has several areas of focus including research into understanding the causes behind the high premature birth rate in the United States and the effects of pre- and post-natal hormones on a mothers psychological health.</p>
<p>The restoration of a Cypress historic schoolhouse building into this research center took a year and cost a total of $2.8 million. Dr. Glynn is involving many members of the Chapman community in this project, creating many interdisciplinary connections between Chapman U’s faculty in the psychology, computer science and physical therapy departments.</p>
