New common app essay about a local bowling alley

I decided to scrap my first essay attempt, and I feel better about this one. It is the prompt about a place that makes you feel content, and I chose my local bowling alley. It is a little long, and there are a couple parts I don’t know whether I should keep or not. If anyone is interested in reading it I would be very grateful.

I can read it.

I can read it!

Il read it. Message me.

I’m not an expert on college essays and have little experience with them myself however one thing I am sure about is that colleges are trying to paint a picture of you from your essay. Your essay was well written and cohesive however I didn’t really learn much about you from the essay; a picture of you was not drawn in my mind. Think about that. But your in a good starting point.

Love it! Anything with truth and passion backed up by good prose will make for a good essay. GL

not to be totally ignorant or anything but I didn’t know the common app was out yet? Is it ?

@newyorker96: yes, the common app prompts were released in February.

Btw, I can read your essay.

@yangmaster thanks so much - will get back to you since I’ll be working on it this week

Only if it is revealing about the writer… the college doesn’t care about those other things unless the essay tells them more about you. Lots of people make that mistake.
