That’s fun!
Some people say it is cheating, but personally, I love a trolley-themed bus decoration.
And I definitely went on some college tours where even just being able to cut down on a couple long slogs, particularly in a climate-controlled environment, would have materially reduced the fatigue factor. Again some would say you are missing the full representative experience, but at least with my S24, I felt like if he was getting tired and uncomfortable, or even just worrying about me being tired and unconfortable (more likely, perhaps), it was a distraction.
I think it can be less about that and seeing more of the campus
We were bummed not being brought to the think box on our tour..I presume as it was too far a walk? I find in a lot of college tours some key aspect we miss as it is just too far to make the standard tour and we often don’t make time to do the slog ourselves as it’s now lunchtime or something( or don’t alway have access ourselves)

I generally like to walk the campus to get a feel for things but can see that it makes sense if there are big distances to cover.
I wonder if having to get on a trolley will make some think it’s not the controllable size campus they thought it was… CWRU is known as a tight campus. Sometimes getting on a vehicle makes you think large - even if it’s walkable.
But hopefully it works for them.

I sort of see it like visiting a charming town or city during a vacation (I am biased to this viewpoint because I truly love college visits, and absolutely would do them just for fun if it wasn’t creepy). Sometimes the stroll is a vital part of the experience. But sometimes in the interest of efficient use of ultimately limited time, or just needing a break, you hop on a trolley or open top bus or whatever, and cover some extra ground.
I assume, though don’t know, they are doing both things – walking around the academic core and then doing the trolley for far flung things? Having recently done the tour the main academic core is really quite tight. In fact, so tight we did the tour 2x as one parent missed official tour so kid and I brought parent 2 at night, lol. Some of the medical buildings (?), dorms and frats are kind are farther (and we missed) (and maker space). that would have been a fun perq to drive by to me?
We shall see though! It is actually high on my kids list, so if they get in we may have a chance to experience- lol.
You can report back. Obviously it’s a very popular school to apply - and with their low yield, they seem to have gotten very aggressive to win some folks - so hopefully he loves it and you get an affordable entry. What could be better ??
There used to be a trolley in Cleveland called Lolly the Trolley. It went around and showed folks all the interesting things in Cleveland. CWRU has a lot near y but not necessarily an easy walk. I think this is terrific!
