New data breach: Saks and Lord & Taylor

http://money.cnn.com/2018/04/01/technology/saks-hack-credit-debit-card/index.html oh man- this is depressing :frowning:

Thanks jym. Hmmm… I am not sure about that “in store buyer only” thing.

@jym626, very depressing since I did most of my MOG dress shopping at those two stores during those months…specifically at some of the stores listed.

@runnersmom count me in the club as well… :((

Me too. Just once…but…

oh noooo, @runnersmom . I would have been shopping at L&T but we don’t have them in my neck of the woods anymore. I did go to Saks but didn buy anything, but a friend bought her MOB dress at Saks. But I think her credit is buttoned down tight as someone tried to access their accounts once and it was a big mess.

My credit card usually catches these breaches…but I’m going to keep an eye on all my accounts.

I bought my MOB dress there in September…in NYC.

I called up AmEx when there was a breach at Neiman Marcus. I asked if I needed to cancel my credit card. They said no because they monitored my card and I also received notifications whenever there was a charge. They also told me that I wouldn’t be responsible for any fraudulent charges.

Recently I had my Bloomingdales card compromised. Someone charged few thousand $$ on my account. I reported it and they promptly took it off.
If you don’t have it already, just turn on the notification for charges. You would be notified as soon as a new charge is put on your account.

I am not too concerned.

I have notifications. And they also text or call me.

But I’ll monitor anyway…I look very carefully at my bills when I receive them!

Likewise, I have notifications, but I will be watching my statements very carefully.

I never use my debit card for any charges because the fund is taken straight out of your checking account and it is harder to get the money back. I do not give out my debit card info.

metoo.

I didn’t use a debit card!! Used a credit card!

I use my Lord & Taylor credit card regularly but haven’t noticed anything suspicious over the past year. Hard to get from the news reports if this was for the Lord & Taylor card or using regular credit cards. Haven’t yet received any sort of communication from Lord & Taylor. Haven’t shopped or bought anything at Saks in years.

I shop at Lord and Taylor often, and I always use my credit card.

But as it happens, I had to get that card cancelled and get a new one issued a month ago because of some fraudulent charges on my account, and I haven’t been to L&T since then. So I guess I win except for the other fraud.

This sort of thing is becoming so routine that I went out last year and got an extra credit card to use only during the times when my regular credit card is unavailable because of the latest set of fraudulent charges.

And now a subset of Delta fliers? Lovely http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2018/04/04/delta-air-lines-hack-may-have-exposed-customer-payment-information.html

Oh great, I see Panera was hit too.

Lovely. Best Buy was just hit too- and we just made a purchase there this week. Ugh.

Ah- news said the breach was last fall.
