New Freshmen/Transfers 2009: How was your first quarter?

So now that we’re all done, what did you all think? Personally I blacked out for the first 4 weeks or so. This quarter system flies by so fast!

Share your thoughts!

Would it be okay to say it defecated upon my entire existence? /tear

You’re exaggerating the truth again, Excor. Yes you were deathly sick for a few weeks, but it wasn’t too bad.

I learned that just because your friends are laughing and having a good time in the hallway while you’re studying, DO NOT join them. You need to study.

First quarter was my one allotted screw up quarter, now I must actually work really hard.

But in terms of overall enjoyment, it went well. I had fun.

first quarter was fun and etc (VERY fun)… but i realized i have to study more to get the A…

sighs for B’s and C’s… :(

failed two premed req courses and other two classes were easy

I got an A- :|

Don’t have my other grades yet, but I’m optimistic.

I’m hoping the basketball team does better next quarter.

I got a B in Math 31B. :frowning: College is definitely harder than I had expected it to be… :|

hi there freshies and new transfers, my name is namaste (dont ask, i was like 17 when i made it, i’d pick a much more negative name today.), an old timer who used to post on this board. currently i’m a 4th year, unbelievably still here. nice to meet you! PM me if you want to chat…

First quarter was so fun. But it went by so fast. It was also extremely difficult academically.

And I was sick the entire quarter which really sucked ass :(

But…I liked it. Time for winter quarter

Fall quarter was tough and… definitely a time for getting the hang of things. I think I did OK in all my classes, but I really have to thank my friends and my super RA for keeping me sane (he gave me some sound, encouraging advice mhmm). Anime club also kept me a bit happy the few times I went lolol. I still need to work on time management and concentration skills however.

I felt like I was really trapped in school sometimes because I didn’t go anywhere outside of campus or my dorm, and I’d like to change that over time. I would like to maybe take better care of myself… I got sick just in time for my first math and chem midterms, and for my second math midterm I decided it would be super to drink a mocha ice blend the night before. Then I couldn’t get to sleep, so I decided to take some NyQuil. I couldn’t find the measuring cup, and I didn’t have a spoon, so I “estimated” 30 mL directly from the bottle. Knocked me out by 4:30 am. I woke up at 8 am and I felt super drowsy, so I got another mocha ice blend. I walked down to the Dykstra area, met a classmate, walked BACK UP to Covel, then went to class to take the test. During and after the test I kept shaking and almost left my cellphone on the floor. I turned my test in, then I sat in for the next lecture some other friends had and slept. And kept shaking.

I couldn’t taste anything that whole day and that made me sad.

Too bad winter quarter’s going to be even tougher. Never say die

^ How the heck is that possible? I work at B-Caf and those ice blended mocha drinks barely have any coffee in there whatsoever! It’s like 6 oz of Coffee extract mix (meaning it’s mixed with MILK, and did I mention the entire mix of it added is only 6 oz?!) and 1 scoop of Nestle chocolate powder and 1 giant scoop of ice!! Are you like, super sensitive to caffeine?

GEEEEEZ I guess I am haha

Also, add in 1 gal of anxiety I guess :O

Fall quarter wasn’t bad. The thing I had to get used to was those crazy curves, like getting an F raw score for a midterm and ending up with a B. It was academically tough but not impossible. Nevertheless, I’m ready to take down next quarter.

I suppose 1 B out of the As won’t kill me just yet…I gotta be careful though…

Bioengineering major with med school aspirations =)
