New hope???

Since the time we were freshmen in High School, we were told to graduate with a 3.0 and we would not have to worry about tuition. We’ll I, like many, took the government at its word and it ended up kicking me in the teeth. I am graduating this year with a 4.071. I’ve worked my but off for 4 years, but the highest in I could score on the CR+M for the SAT was an 1110 and a 1630 overall. The new requirement for full tuition is a 1200. I feel it is really unfair that all of the sudden everything I’ve worked for is being disregarded all because of lies. The state is disregarding some of its brightest students and it is not alright. Is this really fair to those of us who work hard in the class rooms, but who’s only downfall is standardized tests scores? I am still grateful for the 90% of tuition that HOPE will cover, however, I do still feel that something is most definitely wrong with the standards that the state has set. What’s up with this NEW HOPE?

What’s up? There is less money available. Less money to fund HOPE means that fewer students will receive the award.

Can you test again?

Can you also take the ACT?

If you take the SAT again, then study the M+CR sections exclusively, since those are the sections that count.

In your situation with 90% of tuition paid you are far ahead of many students. I know that isn’t easy to hear when the old bar was set so low, but this is only the beginning of the new reality. Make wise choices with your huge tuition discount.
