New Jahi McMath OP-ED from LA Times

DeFina is not really qualified to discuss the results of radiological studies or to opine on brain death.

40 seconds after the command doesn’t qualify as a “rapid response”

Did anyone watch the video? It was cropped at an odd angle and I don’t even think you can see her face. It also looked like someone could easily be manipulating her hand from under the bed.

"…or some other state."

Like in NJ, not in CA?

Where is the video? Oh, found it

I’m very disappointed in the “experts” they have chosen. And why did they choose a psychologist to do and interpret the EEG? I have tremendous respect for psychologists, but what credentials does this psychologist have for performing and interpreting an EEG in regards to brain death? Why not get an expert in the field?!

As I understand it, here is the MRI Mr. Dolan chose to present at his press conference. Compare it to a normal MRI and what we see is a grossly abnormal brain with what appears to be missing or entirely degraded portions of the brain that are pretty damn important. I am not a radiologist and have no experience in interpreting MRIs. I’ve read a few interpretations online of this MRI with a lot of technical lingo, the gist of which is that the brain appears to be shrunken and portions of it completely degraded.

ETA: my link doesn’t work. I"ll try to find another one. ***If one of you knows how to take a screenshot of the MRI from the video and post it, be my guest. I don’t know how to do it.

This is the best I can do for now. It’s hard to see Jahi’s MRI from that angle:
<a href=“Videos show Mom coaxing, Jahi McMath moving”>http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Videos-show-Mom-coaxing-Jahi-McMath-moving-5797622.php</a></p>

Normal brain:

" And why did they choose a psychologist to do and interpret the EEG?"

Because he came up with the conclusions they need.

I should also mention that MRI with and without contrast will be different, so keep that in mind. I’m guessing Jahi’s was done without contrast, if that is even actually her image.

Notice they haven’t shown the results of an eeg, because its probably going to show any electrical activity. Just because there is tissue there doesn’t mean it works. Just because a house has electrical wiring and walls doesn’t mean the electricity works. The mri shows the structure, the morphology of the brain. From that angle it looks atrophied. Hard to see, but the ventricles are enlarged and the cortex looks atrophied.

Delayed

<a href=“Jahi McMath hearing postponed after doctor’s determination”>http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Jahi-McMath-hearing-postponed-after-doctor-s-5810707.php</a></p>

That is a strange looking MRI. and it is not normal brain morphology. And its interesting that it says “not for medical usage” (which is a strange grammatical boo boo, should say not for medical use).

Dr. Fischer basically kicks Dolan’s ass, as well as those of his “experts,” in his letter to the court.

<a href=“Dropbox - Error - Simplify your life”>https://www.dropbox.com/s/nacvrwtpa5w6jqv/McMath_Linked_File.pdf?dl=0</a></p>

I know it immaterial to the larger issue, but it’s whose, not who’s!
(One of the several grammar and spelling mistakes in Dolan’s press release bothering Sue22, grammar Nazi)

^^^Sue22, much has been made of Dolan’s poor communication skills in other forums I’ve read. He should be embarrassed, but I doubt he is capable of feeling any shame.

Dr. Fisher cites a reference made by one of the “experts” to a “sleep apnea test.” A sleep apnea test for brain death! The “expert” doesn’t even know the difference between a sleep apnea test and an apnea test used to determine brain death. Those are some real expert experts, by golly.

OMG, even BB knows those are not the same!!! Experts, oh my.

this story is so gross. Are her extremities withering?

Those CVs are a joke – list every single time you went to the bathroom just to make it long, and hope gullible people are impressed.

A 57-page CV?! 8-|

Maybe its for firewood kindling.

I was thinking of printing it out for that very purpose.
