New Law School Survey of Student Engagement

Friday’s NY Law Journal had a brief article about the release of the first annual Law School Survey of Student Engagement. 42 law schools participated. The information regarding individual schools will not be released publicly, but will be given to the participating schools so that they can see what their students saw as strengths and weaknesses. The aggregate data is being released. More than 13,000 law students participated and the response rate was about 50%–amazing for a study like this.

Here were some of the highlights reported in the NYLJ:

82% of students rated their schools good or excellent
94% rated library services satisfactory or better
56% incurred $60,000 or more in tuition debt
32% never have substantive discussions with faculty outside of class
63% said they received scant support in job placement

And, before you ask, I don’t know how to get the complete report.
