wow…it’s like i have the whole common app here. hahaha. well, thanks a lot for the feedback.
OH! Schools i’m applyin : Harvard (w/ older sister legacy), Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Cornell, Duke, UPenn, MIT, Northwestern, Columbia

you are a competitive, none of those schools are safties though

I agree with the person above. No safeties. I guess you have better chances at Duke, Cornell, and maybe at Harvard with the legacy.

thanks fer the reply.
I know. crazy asian parents want me to go to a crazy school. So do I, but asian parents are nuts. If i get into ONE of these, my life is set. This application process is nerve-wrekcing. colleges should apply to us. Yes, colleges should apply to every single kid in America. They tell us their credentials, then we pick and choose which one we wanna go to. Life would be so much easier.
Any other feedback on my chances?

My safeties are the UC’s. I’m applyin to UC berkeley, LA, San Diego, Irvine, and Santa barbara.

Chances for the UC’s? SD, Irvine, SB are pretty much guaranteed
Berkeley and LA-most likely

My school gets on average 45 to berkeley and LA every year. Berkeley calls our school “baby Berkeley” due to the humanities magnet.

Anyone else?

hahah wouldn’t that be lovely

the awards were very impressive, i think ur bio score’s kinda low thro. HYPM are prob. reaches, harvard a closer reach w/ legacy. the rest slight reach/matches… if ur essays are good enough i think u can get in half of them.

anyway good luck

Thanks a lot. Wat’s an HYPM?

I think you’re in at Northwestern and have a good shot at Cornell. You couldnt be in a much better position though.

Well…freshman year, i got straight A’s
in sophomore year i got 2 B’s each semester (two-semester system) in the same classes

and in jr. year i got straight A’s too.

But THIS YEAR!!! I had the fantastic luck of getting a p.o.s. sexist pig for my AP lit class. When he gives back essays, this is SERIOUSLY wat happens…

“Leslie: fantastic! Sue: Great! Emily: couldn’t be better! Katrina: Beautiful!!!..
John: redo, Derek: redo, David: redo”

He gave me a C on the first essay which is really crappy, especially. So i got one of my sister’s essays last year (she had the same teacher) and turned in the same one. She got an A on that essay last year, while I (A MALE!!) got a “D” on the SAME EXACT ESSAY!!! Comments? he wrote “clearly written” and gave me a D. @$$h0|& !!

wat should i do?

UCLA/UCB: Match
UCSD: Safe Match
UCSB/UCI: Safety

why would you turn in your sister’s essay? I had a teacher like that in 9th grade too

i turned it in to prove HE"S A SEXIST PIG!!! and i’m applying to cornell so that if i get in i can shove it in his face. gosh, i hate that man. He gives out fails and D’s like nothing. but only to guys. Lowest grade he’s given a girl is a B-
HE WAS EVEN SUPPOSED TO RETIRE LAST YEAR!! Our yearbook, had “Good luck Mr. ____” on the FRONT PAGE WITH HIS PICTURE!!!
instead of leaving, he’s making our lives miserable…

b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-bbump

maybe the girls in your class are super smart

nope. in our magnet, you’re surrounded by the same studnets all four years.
maybe they are supersmart, but so are the guys. This teacher is blatantly a crapholio.

how are my chances?

Chances are good as will be everyone’s. You’ve got great GPA, tons of awards, and great SATs.

Show the principal or someone the assignment (your sister’s grade vs yours) and see if you can have any action taken against Mr. _____.

HYPM stands for Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and MIT.

Turning in your sister’s paper is plagarism. I would suggest you just move on…do your own work, and hope for the best. You’re lucky the teacher didn’t recognize that paper. In our school you would FAIL the course automatically for turning in someone else’s work. Now regarding your college choices, I think your choices are a bit top heavy. You do have some safety schools in there, however. Good luck to you. I’m sure you’ll have some good choices to make at the end of April.

actually someone at our school did that (turned in their sisters paper because he was giving him low grades for what he thought was good papers), and they fired the teacher, and luckily the class kep a folder of all essays so they had independent teachers grade them.

the person did not get in trouble for plagerism

I have to say at this point take it to the counselor and argue for inconsistency of grading and sexism. Especially since your sister had him last year. I would bring with you an actual essay that you would replace it with that one though. I think it was mighty clever of you, and even if you got suspended for even a day it would make one hell of a letter for colleges. :)
