<p>I really liked The Help but the book was one I loved loved loved. Just like any large book, scenes have to be omitted and it was a 2.5 hour movie. I was surprised my Mom liked it as much as she did, since that was her era.
I didn’t love The Bridesmaids but so many others did. Just too much stupid humor. I was watching scenes of I Love Lucy with my daughter and mentioned how they had humor in things that weren’t obscene, toilet or foul language- it was just fun humor.
We saw Cowboys and Aliens which I enjoyed more then my D who wanted to go. I’m not the violent type and it was a fun fantasy of the two together.
Horrible Bosses was ok, fun but not amazing.</p>
<p>H and I saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes this weekend. Not exactly a chick flick, but it was fun. By the end I was rooting for the Apes.</p>
<p>Thanks SlitheyTove for the thumbs up on “The Guard.” I’m a big fan of “In Bruges” (dark but so delightful) and was interested to see that Martin McDonagh’s brother had made a film.</p>
<p>“In Bruges” was exactly what I was thinking about as a comparison, but I much preferred “The Guard”. “In Brugues” felt darker to me, partly because I didn’t find the protagonists likeable and partly because of the ending.</p>
