New music?

I suppose I should be posting this where the 17 year olds read it, but that isn’t really where my taste lies.
I have been having a great time in the past few years finding new bands to go see.
( Often I find them opening for another band)
Although I doubt I am traveling very far this summer to hear live music, there are so many bands that I have never heard of playing in my neighborhood, that I thought I should expand my catalog.

Recent new finds include: Kristen Ward, Fleet Foxes, The National, Hypatia Lake, Feral Children, Vince Mira & Death Cab for Cutie ( Yes I know it takes me a while) Oh & I prepared myself for SupPop ( 20th anniv party) by watching Flight of the Conchords, so funny. :)

( I may take D to Rock the Bells @ the Gorge if she has it off, but while I fit in at Sasquatch, I don’t think I could stand a whole weekend of hip hop- Blue Scholars is really good, just a little is enough for me )

I haven’t heard the CD yet but Railroad Earth has a new one out that’s supposed to be great. Of course, the only reviews I’ve read are from fans.

D took me to two very good concerts last week: Matt Wertz & Brooke Fraser. I enjoyed both a lot.

H & I went to see a Canadian singer named Kathleen Edwards recently. Great concert!

Oh, and I forgot … Brandi Carlisle puts on a GREAT show!!

If you like Paul Simon’s Graceland, I’d suggest Vampire Weekend. Very catchy afro-pop influenced music…

Ray Lamontagne is a great singer/songwriter - lots and lots of passion in his music.

Robert Randolph opened for Clapton on his US tour last year and was getting a lot of simply amazing reviews from the typically older crowd.

Cool- Vampire Weekend is headlining a neighborhood block party next month
[The Daily Swarm - Vampire Weekend headline Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party…](http://www.thedailyswarm.com/headlines/vampire-weekend-headline-seattles-capitol-hill-block-party/)

Brandi Carlisle plays the WPzoo quite a bit- we are so close that even when it is sold out we can party in our back yard. ;)
