NEW NETWORKS: THE CW & MY NETWORK TV

For those of you who are a bit oblivious to the world of TV and those who don’t pay attention to the entertainment world, I just wanted to let you know that there will be two new networks this fall. I know that there will be people  with this big network switch. So here is a little info:

The CW: Launches Sept. 18

Info: The CW is a result of the merger between the struggling WB and UPN networks. It is 50% owned by CBS Corp (owners of UPN) and 50% by Time Warner. It will combine some WB shows and some UPN shows, as well as a couple new ones. There is programming 6 nights a week, Sunday-Friday.

My Network TV: Launches Sept. 5

Info: MNTV was created as a response to The CW. It is wholly owned by Fox Television Stations, part of NewsCorp, who also owns FOX. Fox has a bunch of UPN stations in major markets that would have lacked primetime programming in the fall. So they created the new network to fill in the gap. The lineup will consist of only two shows, Desire and Secret Obsessions. They are patterned after Spanish-language telenovelas. MNTV will have programming from Monday-Saturday. Weekly recaps of the novelas will be shown on Saturday.

So what is your opinion of the new nets? Were they good moves? Will you be watching? Or no? Did you even know of their creation?

Eh, I don’t know if it’s a good move; don’t really have an opinion. I used to watch Everwood but haven’t this past year. It kinda sucks they cancelled that though.
I’ll be watching CW for Gilmore Girls. Love that show.

Oops…I put the wrong URL for MNTV. I put an N in by mistake.

It’s actually:

I never thought WB was struggling. It produced several well-acclaimed shows. I liked Smallville. UPN, I could understand. It consistently had put out poorly done shows. The scripts were unoriginal, and the actors laughable. Except for Girlfriends, the shows were of terrible quality. Hopefully, CW will be a good venture for the networks. MNTV looks like a joke, though.

Anyways, I loved Girlfriends. So, as long as it airs, I’m happy. :)
