New NY Gov had an affair

You really know how to pick em in NY ;)

[Gov. Paterson admits to sex with other woman for years](http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2008/03/17/2008-03-17_gov_paterson_admits_to_sex_with_other_wo.html)

Did anyone outside of this area see the news story about former Governor McGreevy of New Jersey? I’m not going to say what it was if you haven’t. Anyone?

I guess Patterson is qualified to be the Democratic Party Governor of New York.

All this excitement makes me realize how boring Gov. Pataki was. What was the matter with him? Couldn’t he get a girlfriend?

Boy! First it’s “High school boys and internet porn”, and before you know it it’s “married couple had affairs when their marriage went through a bad spell.”

I’m shocked — shocked!

unfortunately kluge it’s normal for hs boys to like porn. Last time I checked it wasn’t normal for husbands to cheat on their wives, no matter how bad of a spell they’re going through.

I saw the McGreevy thing.

I read that story too. But, seriously, do you really believe Mrs. McGreevey was involved in a three-way with the driver? I have my doubts. The split between the Gov and the Mrs. was pretty nasty and it would not surprise me if some of the Gov’s buddies are plotting to undermine the Mrs. Then again, anything is possible. A friend of mine in the psych field expressed the opinion that anyone is capable of anything at any time.

husbands and wives cheat…and they stay together…you would be suprised at how often it happens…to think it is rare is being naive…and yes, couples get through it and stay together, a radical concept it seems to some

normal is not the same as not unusual

From the article linked in the original post.

Frankly, their affairs are their business unless they are having affairs with their staff or are breaking the law by having affairs such as the former gov’s paying for sex.

“The thunderous applause was still ringing in his ears when the state’s new governor, David Paterson, told the Daily News that he and his wife had extramarital affairs.
In a stunning revelation, both Paterson, 53, and his wife, Michelle, 46, acknowledged in a joint interview they each had intimate relationships with others during a rocky period in their marriage several years ago.
In the course of several interviews in the past few days, Paterson said he maintained a relationship for two or three years with “a woman other than my wife,” beginning in 1999.”

“Gov. Pataki was. What was the matter with him? Couldn’t he get a girlfriend?”

I worked fairly closely with Governor Pataki for a period of time and I can absolutely assure you that he couldn’t.

He could, of course, pay for one, but was notoriously cheap.

“But, seriously, do you really believe Mrs. McGreevey was involved in a three-way with the driver? I have my doubts.”

I have no idea, but I was appalled that he admitted to it. He should have declined to comment. Whatever type of American Mr. McGreevy may be, he is surely no gentleman.

Oh no, not another one. Why don’t these people just get divorced?

Because if everyone who had an extramarital affair got divorced then there would be very few long term marriages. Most move through difficult periods just like the Paterson’s have appeared to do.

Oh well, that’s too bad. It doesn’t mean that cheating is justified.

too bad that people forgive each other, work through the rough times, see each other as human?

not saying cheating is justified, but it happens, and happens to decent people…who can want to keep their marriage…not such a bad thing to stay together…life is messy…

I feel like every day is another episode of “As the Governships Turn.” Stay tuned! :D

If they wanted to keep their marriage, then they would have enough sense not to cheat in the first place.

Personally, I do not care one whit about the personal affairs of public figures, and I wish we could call a halt to this disgusting feeding frenzy. Clearly, Patterson and wife felt they had to pre-empt the inevitable revelations which would then put them on the defensive. I find it sickening.

What’s really going on here is that the idiots who now pretend to be “journalists” are walking mannequins incapable of covering any story with more complexity than that of Hollywood gossip, and their big money bosses are perfectly happy to keep the peonage distracted with this kid of garbage.

Bread and circuses, people.

I’m with my liberal friends on this - this is not a big deal. Both parties did it, both know about each other’s activities, both apparently forgive the other and both want the marriage to continue. Hopefully this is a happily ever after story.

Isn’t this story good news? Here’s some people who sinned against each other, and found a way to forgive and stay together. Unless some kind of law was broken, I don’t even see this as being a scandal.
