My H & I have been thinking about helping in NOL, now that they seem to know what to do with volunteers.
Not sure of how long we would be able to stay at a time- possibly just a week or two.
Has anyone done this and through what organization?
We both can haul ( and build) and we have our own tools ;)

( and now that D has gone to the UW travel clinic she is inocculated for meningitis/yellow fever & Hep A & B- as well as the usual things)

D has been to NO twice with church groups, although once there I believed they worked through or under Habitat. There seems to be a plethora of church groups working in NO. You may check with a local church in your area.

Students at DS’s college volunteer through this group: [Relief Spark - A Community Based Mutual Aid Network that Provides Disaster Preparedness & Relief.](http://www.reliefspark.org)
You can volunteer as a group or as an individual.

My D’s have volunteered through our church youth group. You may try this link for Methodist church relief - [Louisiana United Methodist Disaster Recovery Ministry Responding to the NEEDS of Others!](http://www.laumcstormrelief.com/)
