What do you think of this topic?

Opens a whole slew of questions…but would be mighty handy for airline travel if you are a legal adult. Probably tastes like crap.

I like my alcohol as a natural product of fermentation of a good blend grapes, thank you.

From what I was able to find out online, it is a complex of cyodextrins with ethanol molecules. It is probably going to taste like… vodka, so momofthreeboys is correct. Bitter and unpleasant on its own. And it is not coming to a grocery store in your neck of the woods any time soon:

<a href=“Regulator reverses approval of powdered alcohol”>http://money.cnn.com/2014/04/21/news/companies/powdered-alcohol/

Seems like another potential source of customers for our ERs and poison control centers, especially if they are fruity scented and flavored. Very scary and another product that can be abused and adulterated for even more dangerous effects. Is this yet another way of trying to avoid taxes being levied on alcohol?

College students won’t care what it tastes like. It’s alcohol.

I’m not going to lie. Powdered alcohol sounds pretty cool. I’d try it if it was offered. It’s not something I would seek out.

Another dangerous part: College students won’t be mixing it with water.

Yes, I believe it will greatly increase the cases of alcohol poisoning. Scary stuff!

This is bad.

This reminds me of that Doris Day movie where candy is made that turns into alcohol when consumed…and everyone got outrageously drunk.

<<

exactly…and they’ll just add it to some concoction in a big container.

The concoction being vodka… Unless the company prices the product so it would be out of reach for the majority of college students, it will be a disaster.

Having sat too many times in the middle seat in Cattle Class on agonizingly long int’l flights, I don’t care what it tastes like as long as it’s alcohol… Anesthetize me, please!

I’m probably more worried about it if it’s produced illegally, both because of misuse and the risk of contamination.

As I think about it, people who drink have many ways to drink now. Would this actually make them drink more? I don’t see how unless it’s cheaper to buy this stuff and mix it up at home versus buying cheap vodka. I assume the pricing of powered alcohol would be higher.

Wonder if you can bake and cook with it without losing the alcohol…hmmmmm.

I’m thinking of evening cocktails on my next backpacking trip! A nice way to relax the muscles. But Palcohol probably does taste terrible.

Lergnom, I doubt it would happen - unlike meth, regular booze is legally available and easy to obtain without the need to set up a chemistry lab. I do not expect too many homegrown counterfeiters of this product. What I worry is that this is snortable… So a small amount could go a long way.

Stupid people are going to be stupid. People will try to snort this. Darwinism at its finest.

The alcohol content isn’t high, but I can see people adding a package of their Lemon Drop mix with a glass of vodka. If you’re trying to party, it’s a great idea. Stronger drink with less to actually drink.

People are going to do whatever they want with it. Eggs and vodka? Sure, why not. (Why ruin a good plate of scrambled eggs?)

They are already putting alcohol in electronic smoking devices and this would accelerate the number of things they could add to make a deadlier cocktail. This powdered product can be regulated by the federal govt–hope they will act.

Well, the Feds pulled back as someone linked earlier and admitted the approval was in error and the approved papers were surrendered.
<a href=“Palcohol Approval Was Government "Error" | Time”>http://time.com/71664/powdered-alcohol-palcohol-error/

TatinG, my friends who want alcohol during camping trips bring flasks. That’s got to be way better than some Pixy Stix alcohol.

Damn. That sucks.
