New President for Rutgers

The Rutgers Board of Governors, with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees, has named Robert L. Barchi, M.D., Ph.D., as the 20th President of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, effective September 1, 2012. Dr. Ralph Izzo, chair of the Board of Governors, announced Dr. Barchi’s appointment on April 11, 2012, at a special meeting of the board.</p>

<p>Dr. Barchi, a neuroscientist, clinical neurologist, and educator, has served as president of Thomas Jefferson University [a medical/health school in Philadelphia] since 2004. Prior to Jefferson, he was provost and chief academic officer of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was responsible for Penn’s 12 schools, all academic programs, athletics, students, and faculty.

<p>I think you missed a T. The Star Ledger is congenitally unfriendly to RU. And rarely congenial about it. ;-)</p>

<p>Hopefully the right guy for RU with all that is going on. I still hope RU gets the med school. Losing Camden is not a high price IMHO</p>
