I received a 1400 on my New SAT,
The 1400 was then translated to the ACT and the OLD SAT using the college board translator thing.
ON the ACT a 1400 is a 30, but my New SAT score translates to a1930 on the OLD SAT
This is because OF MY EXTREMELY LOW WRITING SCORE>>>
The 1930 would be like: 700 CR, 700 M, 530 W.
Some schools only used CR & M on the OLD SAT to calculate Merit Based aid or even Admission (such as Lehigh and University of Alabama: two schools I’m applying to)…
So what is going to happen? would my admissions be calculated off the translated ACT score, or would it be calculated based of the combined CR & M ( from translated old SAT) score of 1400 (the 1400 would give me way more aid for Alabama)
THANKS SO MUCH, I just realized how confusing this is
I’m guessing colleges will be updating scores for aid as we go into this year. Translating scores just seems too complicated to me. Plus, a 1400 on new SAT does not equal a 1400 (CR+M) on the old SAT (as you already know), so I don’t think that they will be looking at scores like that.
I think the new sat has a harsh conversion. Alabama already updated their scholarship criteria and they are using the College Board conversion. If you are relying on automatic scholarships you should consider taking the ACT in September.
@meyeann when I translated my score on college board my CR+M score was equal to a 1400, but the reason my New SAT score was lower was specifically because of the writing score,
@JAMCAFE I’m pretty done with standardized tests… mentally
As you can see you need a New SAT score that concords to Old SAT CR + M 1400 to meet threshhold. Unfortunately your New SAT 1400 concords to Old SAT CR + M 1340. If you stick with the New SAT test you will need 1450 for this scholarship.
@JAMCAFE that’s what I’m confused about because if I translate my 1400 to a 2400 scale on the old SAT, that is the same thing FOR ME as getting a 1930, 700 CR, 700 M, and 530 W and the UA scale is only taking into account CR and M scores from the OLD sat (2400) scale which means I would have a 1400 on the OLD SAT scale when only calculating the CR + M scores.
@JAMCAFE I contacted Bama Scholarship Office, so I’ll let you know what they say. I’ll probably take the SAT and ACT in the fall though because of how low my English score was on the NEW SAT
