New School low gpa

Hey guys.

This is really stressing me out.

I have been a top 10 student in my previous school before I had to move and attend a very competitive school.

The first year, as a junior, was horrible. Most of my grades were Bs and few As therefore my gpa for junior year was 3.125/4. As I read in different threads that colleges look at junior year mostly and how you have improved but since I transferred to a new environment I couldn’t do as good as I could’ve if I was still attending my old school.

Will colleges take transferring to a new school into consideration? Did my dream of getting into Carnegie Mellon fade?

Btw, I took the most rigorous courses(APs and honors) and will be taking mostly APs senior year.

I am hoping to do great this senior year.

Came to u.s. In 2008(freshman year) if that counts. Went from Esl and regular classes to Aps and honors.

Bump…anyone?

Just explain in the additional information part of the common app about your situation and try your best next year. Good luck :)

Doing great in the senior year and write a good essay.

What major do you want to study in Carnegie Mellon? Is bad GPA caused by humanity courses if you want to study CS in CMU? Good SATII and AP scores may help you some .

Hey thank you guys for replying. I would like to major in computer science. O I will do great on essays, that’s the only thing I’m sure of.
