I just signed up for the new student send-off in Los Angeles on July 30th, and I have no idea what to expect. What exactly do we do there, should I bring my parent, and what should I wear?
Thank you

Sorry I can’t help you as my son didn’t do any of those send offs last summer. There is an alumni rep you can contact:
(note: mentioned to leave family members at home except parents)
I think it’s just a way for some area kids who are going there to get to meet each other. And for their parents to get to meet each other too.
There’s probably some pointless speeches with lots of time for people to mingle.
But getting to know people from your area, and just to know anybody before you show up on campus, is a good thing to do, so I’d encourage you to go. and make the most of it.
Those first two weeks on campus, when you don’t really know anybody, it may be a good thing to be able to call that Joe guy from LA who you met at that send-off thing, to go hang out and meet some of the people at each other’s dorms. And you have some people to talk to about flights home, etc. Maybe some people to hang out with when you are back at home. Etc.
