New to all this college admissions:overwhelming my brain :)

I’m only a junior. Basically I wanted to know some good schools that I have a chance to get into based on my career interest.

My GPA:4.0, 4.5 weighted
SAT: 2160 on my first try, haven’t gotten psat results back
Career interest: Biotech, maybe minor in business or music(but first priority is a good biotech school)

EC: Summer Food science internship, 5th place wake math comp, 5th place Young Artists Piano (I hear you can get science scholarship if you play piano)
Science Olympiad, MSEN (math and science club), Key club, national honor society, will be pianist in jazz band, applying for ventures in science and math this summer, 1st place Alg II at MSEN comp., 1st place duet w/ bro at Nebraska summer music olympics (big time Achievement), BRAG award (student achievement award), varsity lacrosse, volunteer at libraries, tutoring programs, carnivore preservation trust, school tour guide

I don’t know if 8th grades EC counts, but I had a fruitful year. My 9th grade I didn’t EC’s because I moved interstate, so would that hurt me? Well here are my 8th greade ecs:

Spelling Bee district winner
Alternate for All-state band in Mallets
3rd place in Science Bowl
5th place out of more than 200 students in Creighton Math Comp
State Recognition in Duke TIP

So basically what are some good schools for science and technology (biotech) that I could get into based on my credentials? Thanks a lot!

HOW COOL! a spelling bee!! although i doubt it would help if you quit after eight grade. have you ever read bee season? its a book about a girl in spelling bees and her messed up family.

If it was a cool experiece, i think you could write a really awesome essay about that. lol

sorry, dont know much about science and technology schools, im a LAC person myself.

good luck!

Take a look at Washington University in St. Louis. US News top 15 school, very strong in everything biological and medical, and a great place to go to school as well.

I wouldn’t put anything from 8th grade on a college application…unless it’s some huge national or international award. Definitely don’t put down Duke TIP…that was from 7th!
