New to College Confidential

Hello, I’m just stopping by to say Hi to everyone. I’m a new member today, and am hoping to learn alot from all of you, so thank you in advance to everyone. I found your group last week, when we were meeting with College Planning Network, and I was researching for info on them. We have decided not to pursue an alliance with them, so here I am, hoping to learn as much as I can from you all. I have a son who is a Junior, and am hoping to get a handle on everything related.

Welcome. You are wise to begin learning now.

Welcome to CC, staubmom! You absolutely can learn everything and anything here, plus the support is amazing. CC kept me from totally losing it and driving my son crazy during the waiting period for acceptances. I’ve met several people IRL, including some college students who offered to give my son personalized campus tours—and did.

Welcome to the neighborhood. You’ll learn LOTS of really good college info here and probably get sucked in to some other conversations, too. Good times here. :)

Welcome…you will find lots of helpful information (and sometimes some “interesting” discussions) in the Parents Forum. This area, the Parent’s Cafe is also fun. If you have questions about financial aid, there is a section for that. I’m sure folks will point you in the right direction with any questions you have. This forum is one piece of the pie for you…you will get information from lots of places hopefully…your child’s high school, some of the colleges themselves, and from perhaps some friends too.

Welcome! As others have said, this is a great forum for learning everything you can about the college search and application process. You are in good hands as there is a lot of experienced folks that I learned from over the course of getting 2 into colleges that they both love. My D is a junior in college now (music) and my S is a graduating HS senior and is all set now (chose St. Lawrence). Wander around and ask as many questions as you need to get your feet under you.

Welcome! Best of luck to your son!

And the irony is, that once the kids are in college and even out of college, we parents just keep hangin’ around. We like it here.

Welcome! There’s a bunch of us HS junior parents over in the Parents Forum at: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/754591-parents-hs-class-2013-college-class-2017-a.html</a>

Don’t feel like you need to read the whole thread (although if you have extra time, you certainly can) but jump in whenever you feel comfortable.

Lovely to meet you! Welcome and best wishes.

Welcome. CC is full of helpful and knowlegeable people, but I have to warn you that it can become addictive. Best of luck to your son.

Welcome Staubmom

Enjoy the journey.

Welcome! As others have said, enjoy the journey! Quite a few of us here are a few years on the other side of the college admission process and are still here to hopefully help out and support others…plus, it’s fun to “hang out”! Best to you!

Hello Staubmom!

This is a wonderful resource, where you can find all sorts of information about college-planning, as well as support, and advice. This is really a friendly and helpful bunch :)

Occasionally people get weird, but that gets squelched quickly.

None of us, though. The weird people seem to disappear.

Welcome. Tell us a little about your child and what he/she is looking for. We are happy to help.
