they say
" New Visions Career Exploration: Health Careers

The New Visions Career Exploration: Health Careers program is designed for high school seniors interested in medical and health-related professions. Students learn in classrooms located at either St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany or Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, through traditional methods (lecture, reading, research, writing and focused study), and through rotations.

Rotations are structured observations of professionals and procedures in a career field. New Visions: Health Careers students spend from one day to three weeks in 40 to 50 clinical and administrative areas of their hospital and at local health care facilities. Rotations include radiation oncology, the operating room, pharmacy, psychiatric units, rehabilitation, the business office and even maintenance, which poses special challenges in a sterile environment.

Students also rotate through Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital, the Center for the Disabled, Villa Mary Immaculate Nursing Home, St. Peter’s Addiction Recovery Center, Hospice and other agencies.

Students completing New Visions have a clearer vision of their career and college goals along with firsthand knowledge of the day-to-day demands and rewards of various professions.

Scheduling:
New Visions programs are offered during the first part of the school day, from 8-11:30 a.m. Students are advised to meet with their home high school guidance counselors as soon as they are interested to plan their schedules accordingly.

Units of Study and High School Credits Earned:
English 12 Honors - 1 credit
Participation in Gov’t. Honors - 1/2 credit
Economics Honors - 1/2 credit
Introduction to Medical Science - 1 credit
Health Policy & Careers - 1 credit "

or, i can take around 7 AP classes during my senior year, as this program does not offer any ap credit, and takes up 4 out of the 8 periods i have at schoool. also as i may take hte program during my senior year, by the time i apply to college i will only be around 2-3 months into the program. The program does sound interesting, but seems to be much easier than 7 ap courses.
what do you guys think?
Thanks!!
