New Years Eve Plans?

My week was similar to yours. 3 Christmas dinners, relatives, a little dysfunction thrown in, etc. Don’t have a mirror handy, but I would bet that my face is a deep green right now. I could not be more envious.

I really need to stop feeling sorry for myself. Talk about first world problems.

We have reservations for a patio table at a restaurant on the bay with a view of the city skyline. But when I made the reservation, they said it was subject to cancellation due to weather. And now they’re predicting a major rainstorm tomorrow into the night. So we might end up at home. I’ve already suggested rib roast and Yorkshire pudding.

I am having live lobsters delivered from Chelsea Market for D2 and I. I will grill a steak for her friend because he doesn’t like lobsters.

Take out Chinese food, a few French deserts, champagne…in the house.

From way back, I’ve never been a lover of New Years Eve. Too much forced gaiety for me overall and most restaurants bump up their prices to a ridiculous rate. A nice dinner at home with H followed by a bottle of champagne and a fire in the fireplace should do just fine for us.

Will be sipping champagne aboard an int’l flight from Germany. The Berlin attacker did not win.

Probably out to regular dinner with DS1, before he takes off with friends. We never really celebrate, and I’m typically in bed regular time. When the kids started driving and going out, DH rarely drank that evening. He was always afraid something would happen to them and he needed to not be tipsy. the last time I stayed up to midnight was thevturn of the century!

Always hated the artificial-ness of the celebration. Dinner, on-demand and bed (in between consoling the dog who is freaked out by the fireworks).

Because we are attending the annual All Academies Ball (a formal late-night gala) with our cadet tonight, we are going low-key tomorrow night. Son is making dinner for us NYE, and we will watch a movie or two. Trying to make the most of every minute before he leaves on Wednesday. :frowning:

What fun plans @ChoatieMom!

We are staying home watching the college football playoffs. We’ve had plans the last couple years, really glad no one asked us this year. Bad of me I know.

Also glad I’m not young. Hearing D stress about plans and what to wear and all, nope so glad I’m past that.

DH will be sneaking in and out of the Ball tonight to catch some of the Michigan game in the hotel lounge. He is very unhappy with Air Force for scheduling the event tonight. Army hosted last year and made sure to pick a football-free evening.

Go Blue!

Dinner somewhere that doesn’t take reservations, have their regular menu, and isn’t fancy; it might be fast food and movie popcorn!! Then off to see Star Wars Rogue One, husband’s pick. Hopefully home before the neighbors start the fireworks which the young dogs doesn’t love, but is fine if we are home.

We will be home with S1, DIL and S2. NYE since the boys were much younger has involved them choosing our snacks and playing games. It’s still pretty much the same. The kiddos still shop for food (except dinner - we’re making chili and a taco bar), and we still play games, although the games have gotten more adult. NYE is certainly one of our family traditions.

Dinner and champagne at home with friends, followed by board games. Exciting life we lead! We host an annual New Years Day late afternoon party with chili and, usually, bowl games. However, the Sunday pro football schedule is messing with us this year, so it will just be chili!

Home. It’s also my birthday, so we’ll celebrate that with a quiet dinner and watching something on TV. This year is lower key than usual. The kids are doing exciting young people things involving cold weather and crowds.

New Year’s Day we have the extended family Hanukkah party, so I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.

Hiking a small mountain with a group of other hikers. At the top, we are having a midnight picnic, with everyone brining something to the top (brownies, fruit, sparklers, etc.), and we are having our very own plasma ball for midnight

Take out Chinese…I purchased two movies that I love…champagne…asleep by 11

I will be home in my nightgown, having turned down all invitations with the H is still recuperating excuse. Ha, ha! He doesn’t know or he would have insisted on accepting at least two of them! I just had no interest in going to a restaurant, a party, Times Square vicinity or even a friend’s house for dessert.

Oldest boy will be with his gf, D is in Oz with bf’s family, middle son may go in to the city to a friend’s apartment, youngest two (both under 21) are staying local.

We’ve been presented with the opportunity to view Times Square from a high floor of an office tower just a few blocks away. Our small group will be the only ones in the building and apparently we’ll have a direct unobstructed view of the ball dropping. Should be quite an experience!

DH and I had our first date on a NYE, and we saw a whole bunch of drunk drivers that night. Also, after all the hubbub of Christmas, NYE/NY is our decompression reward to ourselves. So we will be home in our jammies tomorrow night.
