New Years Eve Plans?

H will be asleep as he needs to drive D and BF to the airport at 5 a.m.
D and BF and her BGF ( and our special other D) and her H will be out partying.
I will be watching TV as special D and her H’s baby is sleeping.
Then all the young (33) adults will Uber back here and sleep.
D and BF will leave for Boston. Other “D” and family will breakfast with us and then
leave.
Otherwise, I would just be still at home watching TV but with a good drink.
As I am on duty with the baby I will have to wait until the 1st.

It’s our 25 year dating anniversary. D is going out on a date, S is over at the pool house having some of his friends over. Hubby and I are going to do crab legs and clams and we’re chilling the champagne - I have 2 different champagne cocktails I’m thinking about, may try both.

I’ve spent much of the last 18 hours in bed with a nasty cold, so canceled our tapas date.
H went grocery shopping and purchased both lobster and tenderloin. It was a sweet gesture, but I’m not up for eating either today.

Finishing my sermon for tomorrow…

An early evening basketball game, then home to catch Kathy and Anderson on CNN as the ball drops. That gets me in bed shortly after 9pm my time, so I can rest up for tomorrow morning’s 10K race.

Movies and lobster at home. NYE is my least favorite holiday.

We had planned to go to the local casino. But H is just getting over strep and I have something (don’t think it’s strep cause throat isn’t bad) so may end up staying home.

I’m supposed to be going to a dinner party but I’m not feeling well at all. I’m trying to get myself to rally.

The dinner starts at 7; is it rude to leave a NYE party at 10 pm?

Plus I dont feel like getting dressed up because my face is all swollen and puffy from being sick and I look terrible.

But I haven’t seen these friends for ages so I don’t want to cancel at the last minute.

Might make it to midnight. On my couch, in comfy pants, watching a movie…

Still envying all you couch potatoes as I contemplate getting ready for our black tie wedding. :((

But I did find a floor length black velvet skirt and sparkly top/jacket combo that I believe will pass muster at a black tie event and doesn’t seem too uncomfortable. The shoes aren’t too awful (though it remains to be seen if I’ll still say that by midnight). DH rented a tux and will look handsome, I’m sure. He hasn’t seen me in a dress in ages (I hate them), so he will probably be delighted.

Sigh.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening. It’s time to say goodbye to 2016, so there’s the positive.

I’ll be ringing in the New Year with the best thing that’s happened to me this year: my baby nephew.

I’ve had a hell year so I’m super happy to be ringing it in with the positive things in my life.

We’ll be getting together with the same couple as the last 27 years. This year the husband is recovering from surgery so we’re having dinner at their house, will enjoy a nice evening together, watch the ball drop and then head home. We could have spent the night but we’re watching the dog for D1 so that’s not an option. We started off with 4 couples, when none of us had any kids, and, while we’re down to two couples now, one couple just told us they’re moving back to the area and we’re thrilled. Next year we’ll be back up to 3 couples! Happy new year to all – may 2017 bring peace and happiness to you and those you love.

Sipping an Old Fashioned now and seeing Rogue One with DH. Never a late night at our house – we’ll celebrate on Nova Scotia time, two hours ahead of our actual time zone!

Yes, goodbye and good riddance to 2016.

Took a late afternoon nap and now I am awake. Having a light dinner at home and watching tv with dd. Have the Christmas lights on in the house. Plan to watch the movie “New Year’s Eve.” Tomorrow we plan to go out to brunch with the family.

My husband, son and I drove to a nice casual restaurant about 45 minutes from where we live, for an early dinner. Then we stopped off to see a house where the owners go all out with their Christmas display, and people get out of their cars and walk around. It’s garish and wildly over the top, but also fun and sweet.

Now we’re home and in our pj’s. My son is uber-ing over to the local bar scene with 4 of his childhood pals. My musician daughter is performing with a band. I used to make a whole assortment of appetizers, but I just didn’t feel like it this year, so we’re just hanging around, being lazy. I don’t think I’ll make it to midnight EST.

I seriously can’t imagine that 2017’s going to be any better, which is a profoundly depressing thought.

The Costco crab legs were delicious. Watching a little TV and have decided that I will be totally content to be in bed long before midnight reading a book and dozing off.

@nottelling Think positive thoughts. Focus on the blessings that you have.

H is messing with his sous vide - hope to have dinner in an hour or so. I have some sparkling wine or might open up one of my “for special” bottles of red.

I have a bunch of books to choose from and will put up my feet and read for the remainder of the evening.
