New Year's Resolutions

To get things in my life under better control so that I don’t constantly feel like I’m hanging on to a runaway tractor trailer in the fog.

Less stress and more enjoyment out of life :)

I’m just trying to set realistic goals. I might be too sore after the first one to do two! Heck, there are no real signs that I’ll be able to do the first one, but stranger things have happened.

Doing one good two-legged squat was last year’s resolution!

Lose weight. I lost a good amount of weight 2 or 3 years ago, but it’s started to creep back. I stopped exercising when my mother’s health declined, and I go up to the nursing home every evening instead. But I need to find time to resume the exercise.

Sleep. I really have trouble with this, as I am a ‘night owl’. But my schedule requires me to be up before 5 AM every day. So I usually get by on 5 hours or so of sleep a night on weekdays. I have no idea how to make myself fall asleep earlier in the evenings. I can stagger around exhausted all day, but then be wide awake by 10 PM.

This will probably involve cutting back on caffeine. I use it to get me through the day, but it is probably sabotaging any hope I have of an early bedtime.

martina, I think you need to force yourself to stick to the schedule you know you need. If you can force yourself for one month, it will become habit, and it will become what your body wants you to do. One month – that’s not so hard, is it??
