My D travels through Grand Central a few times a year on her way to and from our home to school and back. Because of the airline pricing, she tends to fly in and out of LaGuardia and then takes the train out to school.

The question is, where can she store luggage for a short period of time in or around Grand Central? She would love to come in to the city by train, store her luggage and shop for a bit before heading out to LaGuardia, but she can’t find a place to store her luggage and she doesn’t want to walk around Manhattan wheeling her luggage with her.

My daughter had this problem a year ago. My brother in law (who lives in Manhatten) found a nearby hotel that agreed to store them in their luggage storage area for a fee. I remember when daughter was looking into this that there was no storage area at the stations anymore due to security concerns.

Like Kathiep, I was going to suggest you review your own hotel preferences, see if there is a chain you stay at a lot…and then call their location nearest Grand Circle…see if you can arrange with their BellHop services for your daughter to store her luggage there temporarily…
we did this in London one year…we dropped stuff off at a Radison and retrieved it on our return from Cambridge…pay the bellman a nice tip as you drop off the luggage and pick up…

The Yale Club is across the street from Grand Central. (Between 42 and 45th street. Closer to 45th street, if memory serves me correctly. We cut thru an office building and it is across the street.)

If you can find a member, not limited to grads of Yale, they can get you a guest card and the Yale Club has a coatroom on the first floor of the lobby.

Our son likewise travels a bit to commute from home/school/friends. I hope that when you leave your baggage at a hotel that there is some secure way to identify you and your baggage-In other words, this method seems to be similiar to leaving your baggage unattended in the airport lounge.
