I’m going into my senior year, and will be applying for early admission. My cumulative GPA is an 89. My high school includes all regents grades into our final GPA/average. Without the regents grades my average is raised to a 91. Not a big difference, but still better. I plan to go out of state, where 9 times out of 10, the college disregards the regents exams.
The only GPA on my transcript is the one that includes my regents grades. I find it a bit unfair that if a college disregards the regents exams, that they should reflect my gpa. Has anyone ever heard of getting a second GPA added to the transcript, or the original modified? Or do I just have to suck it up? Thank you.
Colleges will often recalculate GPA according to their own rules, but each college has their own policy on this so there is no one answer to this. High school GPAs are determined by each high school; colleges are generally aware that there are differences in how GPA is calculated. Regardless, your Regents grades will be visible on your transcript. Whether the college considers these grades in admission or not is also specific to each school. I think you will have to “suck it up” in the sense that those grades are there for any admissions office to see and what weight they choose to place on those is up to them.
To sum up, whether your GPA is an 89 or a 91 is up to the college to decide.
Most likely it will be considered, like a capstone grade (final) which it essentially is.
