New York Times Spelling Bee, anyone?

I got array but not some of the others mentioned. I quickly got to genius today but only at 23 words. Will work on it later!

Coincidentally, this appeared in the Times today: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/09/crosswords/spellingbee-tips.html

I am stuck on one last word on today’s puzzle. This one felt so much easier than yesterday’s…

Spelling Bee is the first thing I open on my phone when I wake in the morning. I love to get my brain moving with this puzzle. I’m just 3 words short today, but am having a Christmas party tonight so no more time to fool with it. Sure wanted to get my first QB.

I’m now just one word short of QB. Dang, really want to figure out the last one.
I didn’t know about the comments section til reading this thread. Seems the CE7 word has stumped a lot of people and that’s the one I’m looking for.

I’m looking for that dang last CE word, as well.

Have resorted to just randomly clicking and making nonsensical combos…

Just got that word–QB!

Addicted here too! I don’t believe in hints – and so I’ve only ever got Queen Bee once, on my 60th birthday. I considered that a good omen!

I got it!! So excited for my first QB.
Now back to prepping house for party.

Just curious — do you consider the matrix of word lengths and the list of how many words start with specific two-letter combos to be hints, or just the community help suggestions to be hints?

I personally use the former but not the latter. That said, although I always hit Genius, I have not yet made QB and I’ve been playing for a couple of weeks now.

I’m a bit of a purist – for myself only – what others do is fine with me! I only ā€œcountā€ Queen Bee if I’ve had zero hints/help of any kind. So in 1+ year of playing I’ve only gotten Queen Bee twice.

I usually get to genius and stall out with 2 - 10 words still needing to be found. At that point I would look at the words beginning with hints, which I only learned about today! – or Twitter. I still haven’t gotten to QB with them, but if I did it just wouldn’t be the same :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Something must be wrong with me. I’m stuck on Great!

Finally got Genius at 11 p.m.!

I broke off my addiction a few months ago, but now I’m feeling a pull to go back. I never knew about the hints. After I did my best, I’d go to the answer link.

Got addicted to the Spelling Bee during the pandemic and I now work it online everyday. H still does the crossword puzzle, which I used to do with him. I’m more apt to do the SB now. If there are more than 40 words, I have to take a break and I’d never get anything accomplished.

How are all you bee-ers doing? The one last week with 68 words was a bit much! I am certainly learning some new words. I generally finish, but have to use the grids and hints (and occasional word lists) to get there. Mostly for words I have never heard of, but occasionally a ā€œduhā€ moment when I just missed something obvious.

The last few days there have been a lot of ā€œno patternsā€ kinds of bee. Where you just gnaw at it and get another unconnected word finally. The other day, I was supremely happy to know ā€œhamartiaā€ (thank you Greek lit and English classes), but we failed on QB because didn’t get mahi mahi (which is two words, dang it!)

Bee fans–there’s a NY Times Spelling Bee Facebook page where you can grouse about the Bee.

Cool! I’ve seen some Twitter hashtags, but a dedicated group would be great! Thanks!

I’m FB friends with the woman who edits the entire puzzle page, and I try not to grouse at word issues with her, so this gives me a safe place to do so.

Today’s puzzle is HARD (for me, at least). Still haven’t gotten to Genius!

Yesterday everything just flowed and I got Queen Bee with only one hint.
