New York University Early Decision Class of 2030 Official Thread

Is there any stat on how many application NYU had this year for ED and what’s the acceptance rate for stern? Which has better chance - Deferred or waitlist?

Accepted. For posterity - Tisch film. 1470 SAT, 770 verbal 700 math. No grades. Pretty bad EC. Great recommendations. I have a site with six other films I made. Work on your portfolio! None of the portal signs meant anything. I had sailport false, couldn’t send emails, 178, Had the second financial aid page in albert with the box, couldn’t log in to the new service site. FYI the acceptance site is a completely different design from the albert pages. It was a fun way to pass the time but there were no signs.

I got waitlisted CAS GPH: Sociology with a 35 act. lowkey feeling hella discouraged rn but it’s fine I guess. Is there any chance getting off the waitlist this year being full-pay or am I cooked?

NYU doesn’t publish its waitlist statistics. Generally, deferral would be better as that just means you are being considered in the regular pool so have those odds. When you’re waitlisted, you are waiting beyond the RD pool for either yield to be below their forecasts, or for “summer melt”. I’d suspect that yield is more uncertain this year given the issue some internationals might face (so they either might not accept their offers or accept but not be able to get visas), so that might make the waitlist a slightly better bet than usual, but it’s hard to know. Also, with the waitlist, you are essentially waiting for someone “interchangeable” with you to fall out of contention- as the space that opens up will be for a particular school. So for example if you are on the Stern waitlist, you specifically need Stern yield to be below expectations or for someone who committed to Stern to withdraw.

For anyone interested in joining, someone made an instagram gc for nyu30

I have a very important question. I hear people saying that sending LOCI helps increase the chances. I got deffered from Ed1 to Ed2 as an international aid seeking applicant.

They gave us a deferral form in the application portal and a response box in it to add updates, and forbid sending any other additional information or documents except our middle term grades.

  1. Should i then submit only the updates here or should I send a LOCI separately.

  2. Secondly, I have two updates which are both strong. One is my participation as the youngest student ambassador for women in law Pakistan for their event where I had a instrumental role in their research work and agenda setting. The second update is that I am introducing a winter internship for my social advocacy initiative that I mentioned in my common app, which will be collaborating with a minority orphanage. I received 50+ applications and I, as the chapter head am finalising the interns and curriculum focused on civic engagement. Are these two enough, because I do have some smaller updates like getting lead role in my theatre annual play and getting the chance to co direct the play with the production company behind the mask as well as choreograph the entire musical.

  3. If I should send a seperate LOCI, what should be the content of it since I am already mentioning the updates in the portal.

  4. If I should only submit the updates, then should I add anything else like my interest in NYU, anything pertaining to why NYU remains my top choice etc?

For 1, 3, 4: You don’t need a LOCI for ED2. If you stay in the ED pool you are committed to going so they will assume you are interested and it is top choice. They have given you a form, follow their instructions about what they want to see.

Thank you, I appreciate it!

Parent here. I have a child at NYU. The waitlist seems to have moved a fair bit the last two cycles. I would not give up hope. Make sure they know you will come if they extend an offer.

hiya to all! folks who had to submit portfolio through slideroom do you know if the grace period is there this year?

I am just seeing this question now. I hope you got it anwered!

Demographics: Indian male, international, full-pay, private IB-style school

Intended major: CS + Economics (CAS EDII)

Academics: IB Diploma w/ 4 HLs (Math AA, Physics, CS, Econ). UW GPA ~3.5. Grade 11 dip (~30/42) due to family circumstances. School non-ranking; Texas A&M placed in 1st quartile. 48/56 Grade 10 IB MYP exams. Test-optional

Main ECs: founded a stock prediction platform (ARIMA/LSTM + 1,000+ users in 8 countries), research internships at a public university’s labs for (trade-timing ML/backtesting) and (sports analytics), captain of Coding Club, student council, NYU Tandon ML outreach, AI/computer vision internship, STEM blogging (11k readers), volunteer teaching, and MUN/debate leadership. Applying NYU CS+Econ ED II.

I know my stats are on the lower side for NYU, but how much will the admissions office weigh my Grade 11 dip compared to my extracurriculars? Does ED II meaningfully improve my chances for CAS CS+Econ, or is this still essentially a long shot?

late but did you submit SAT?

Yo is there any portal astrology that’s legit besides the Fall 2026-2027 thingy on the NYU Housing Website? Also, did anyone besides me apply to Tandon ED2?

Like, I tried to email my id@nyu.edu but it always bounced back.

One more day left, I’m so so scared

ppl said that it appears that they patched it this year. As far as the email, I saw a few people say their emails bounced back and still got accepted

Why are you scared? If they say no, there’s thousands of schools to get educated at.

ofc but this one would set me up both academically and professionally, as well as keeping me close to something extremely important to me in nyc
