yall but here’s what GPT says…so i don’t think it’s a bad sign either way:

Stern/NYU email behavior doesn’t mean anything for admissions.
NYU creates directory entries for all applicants, but NOT real mailboxes.

  • If you can ā€œsendā€ to @stern.nyu.edu → it’s just an alias in the system, not a real inbox.

  • If Microsoft asks for Multifactor Authentication (code) → that’s just Azure seeing a user object, even if the mailbox doesn’t exist.

  • If it doesn’t ask for MFA → your account just doesn’t have that policy attached yet.

Different people hit different back-end states, but NONE of them are connected to being accepted or rejected.

I agree

but that still doesn’t explain why some people can send to nyu email and some can’t. that only explains that everyone can send to stern emails

bounced back again…
on a side note on dec 4 my stern email got delayed and so I canceled it but today it let me send (ik it is letting everyone send) but that obvi just means updates happened

It’s possible that no one’s email goes through but some people just think it did if they never got an email back saying it didn’t go throu

GPT basically explained it like:

NYU sometimes activates mailboxes before they import admissions decisions, especially for:

  • international document processing

  • financial aid matching

  • identity verification workflows

A ā€œno bounceā€ @nyu.edu just means the system created your mailbox early — NYU does this in random provisioning batches for applicants, admitted or not. The only real sign is being able to actually log into the inbox and receive mail.

I mean they people who got theirs sent are saying they never got a bounce back or delivery fail email.
So idk…

If it didn’t send for you though there is a chance they are being slow and just haven’t loaded in all of the admitted student accounts yet.
