Newberry College?

Well I have decided to go to Newberry College. I went to their acceptance weekend I really like it! I like the fact it is so small. Does anyone have any thought on Newberry (if you go there, or have gone there). Oh, and just a question…why is a cable box included in each room? I thought it came with basic cable. Just found it odd that they would include a cable box in a college dorm room. (thinking starving college kid here). Thanks for any info that you could give me!

I know a librariean at Newberry. It is a small college that is slowly on the rise. Their new president seems to have made headway in a number of academic areas.

This school is listed as having a freshman retention rate of 59% in USnews.

While the freshman retention rate might be a statistic an applicant would consider, I fail to see the statistic’s value to an enrolled first year student enthusiastic about freshman year and asking for information about cable boxes in dorm rooms.

i’m a senior at newberry college, i agree the small family like atmosphere is what makes newberry a great place to be.

i have been living in the dorms since i was a freshman and i have yet to see a room with a cable box! the cable is free. were you refering to the box that gives us the internet?

dntw8up, I am sorry that you didn’t care for the comment. Taxguy made positive comments about the school which are not relevant to cable boxes either. He commented that this is a school on the rise, which might be true, or might not be true. I commented on the retention rate after taxguy’s comments. I am sorry that you did not like that statistic, but is a statistic to consider for other prospective students reading this thread. If the school, faculty, and students who attend do not like that statistic, they can work on doing things to improve retention rate.
