I’ve discovered that more and more people are identifying as “fluid” as their sexual orientation, meaning that although they prefer a certain sex, they are acknowledging sexual and emotional attraction to the same sex as well. This does not mean that they’re choosing whom they will be attracted to but simply that they’re realizing that their sexual orientation falls on a non-traditional part of the sexual orientation continuum (somewhere between the middle and gay or middle and straight) that would otherwise be classified as lesbian, gay, or bisexual if it weren’t for this awareness. This applies to people (like me) who occasionally fall for people of the non-preferred sex (though in my case, I mistook her for a pretty guy at first).

Have you noticed more people identifying as “fluid”? A similar term is “queer,” which embraces the continuum as well.
