Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain! The Great and Powerful Oz says go back and get the broom! Go get the broom!

Yeah these rankings are seriously getting out of hand

Where is Bemidji State University on this list?

Does their methodology account for the fact that BSU accounting graduates pass the CPA exam at a higher rate than the state average? Or that the campus includes a 240-acre private forest?

Joining the military is highly desirable?

mixing national universities, liberal art colleges, and military academies is rediculous; they are way too different to compare as simply as this list suggests.

“Joining the military is highly desirable?”

Certainly not for me or my S. He wouldn’t hace accepted even if admission had been offered to him without applying. And saying the education you receive at military academies is free is a mistake; I can’t imagine a more expensive school than the one that demands five years of your life after graduation, and may put it at risk besides.

That said, I do honor students that are interested in the military. If it weren’t for them, neither my S or I could have the choices we do.

I disagree. The list is supposed to rank desirability only. I guess you could include almost anything in the list. ;)

I find it very revealing how many of these schools are evaluated by alumni and current students on certain “other” sites. There seems to be a great divide between those schools which offer an excellent education and those who simply project that image extremely well. I’m certainly not speaking from a position of authority or certainty, but it does appear to me that many of the most prestigious schools, including top ivies, suffer from this syndrome…mainly due to graduate students getting the majority of the attention.

What you would expect. A lot of top private schools in the northeast, and few schools in the midwest/south.
