* next to books

What does the freaking * mean?

Examples of ‘Not in Stock’ are:
New Books: We have 100% Used copies.
Used Books: We have 100% New copies.

but under the books both new and used are in stock. And for 20B, do I need to buy the huge early transdencendentals book or the single variable? For 20C do I have to use multi variable? Basically I realized it’s cheaper to buy the single and multi separately than the huge book, but I don’ tknow if theres a difference, and on the website it lists the huge early transcendentals as required but the single variable as optional. ***?! Anyone take this class before know about the type of book necessary?

thanks

If there is a “not in stock” on the line for the prices of the new book, it means that they only have used versions.
If there is a “not in stock” on the line for prices of the used book, it means that they only have new versions.

If you see the , you would scroll down to the “ Examples of ‘Not in Stock’ are:” section to see why the book is not in stock. If there is no * on either of the used or new books line, then they have both used and new books.

I hope I made sense.

Don’t know the answer your other question on the books. >< I guess they would prefer the early trans book but the single variable works too? I just used the TRS service. =P

If I remember correctly, there is one book for 20a-c while the publisher makes a special version of the last few chapters of the book for students starting out with 20c. Is the book stewart 5e? The large version will have everything you need.

:)

Does anyone know where to buy those remote transmitters? They aren’t at the bookstore…

These?
http://www.h-itt.com/transmitters.html

Ahh…thank you. So does UCSD expect us to buy them from that site or do they sell them on campus?

They’re in the bookstore. You can find coupons for them in the physics and chem sections; you bring those to the register and get your clicker.

:)

i have a clicker if anyone wants to buy it off me. Its only been used for 1 quarter and the batteries are still pretty new. shoot me an email if you are interested. chipsahuy@gmail.com

can i still by the clicker from the website?
if not where is the coupons in the chem sections?

There will be plenty – don’t worry. If you can’t find it, just ask the people working at the bookstore.

speaking of discounts, on the booklist on the schedule of classes, there are now discounted price for the books at the bookstore, how do we get those discounts???

and how much is the discount for the clicker???

Discounts are automatically applied…the clickers usually don’t have one.

thanks so much, just one more question…for math 20a, is it ok to buy the international version since they are pretty much the same except the internation version is cheaper???

You should be fine.

:)

if there’s a star next to one of your books and it’s not available does that mean you need to buy it elsewhere b4 the fall quarter starts?

when I click on the red book next to my math 20c and chem 6ah classes, it says that there aren’t any required books as of now. What does this mean? Will I have to buy books for those classes before the first day?

The profs haven’t gotten around to updating the list on the website, most likely. Yes, you will need to buy books – when you move in, swing by the bookstore and take a look.

For math20c, the textbook is Stewart 5e (Early Transcendentals I believe).
