I will be a senior next year and am about to schedule for classes next year. What are some good classes to take that may connect with this major. I’m already taking drama and performance, choir, show choir, and band.
Music theory!
Music theory would be helpful, as well as piano, if that is an offering at your school. BUT - make sure you have checked what your various possible schools may require in their academic prerequisites. With that many HS performance classes, you want to make sure you have all your necessary academics covered.
Ballet, ballet, ballet, ballet, ballet, tap, ballet, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, ballet… not kidding, actually! Dance calls are required by most schools and you will be auditioning next to kids who have been dancing all their lives as well as very little. You need to be able to pick up choreography fairly quickly. Knowing some technique will give you confidence and help you keep up.
Yes. There are a few schools that require 4 years of math. (Doesnt really matter if you started in Algebra 2.) You gotta have 4 years. 3 Years of Language is a good bet. And I agree with @addicted2MT take some dance classes. Esp ones that are beyond the “recreational” level if you can fit them in.
