next year

im going to my local cc next semester, at the end of the year, I’d lik to transfer out and attend the school I was rejected at last year. I guess my question is: how do I make myself a stronger applicant?

Wabash, keep your gpa as high as possible, take a challenging course load, involve yourself with activities you are passionate about, keep track of the requirements your intended transfer schools require (hehe perhaps by CC research) and overall just enjoy yourself man… =]

Best wishes, Cardinal…

it would be nice to know WHY I got rejected in the first place or what areas I need to work on in order to improve my application.

I wanted to know my gpa, as of today is: 0.00. For the four college classes I’ve taken (eng101, eng110, bio201 and bio202) I took them at another local cc. My current cc says that my gpa from my old gpa will not transfer!

Can you elaborate wabash? where did you get rejected from?

Well, where ever you apply, you will simply have to provide trancripts from both institutions.

I got rejected from Hampden-Sydney College (www.hsc.edu) in Hampden-Sydney, Va.

your gpa at another college will not transfer over. you start over every time. and if you do end up attending hsc, you’ll start with a brand new gpa.

hmm…ok. So since I “attanded” 2 differant cc my gpa starts over each time?

Wabash - my S attended two different schools (due to Katrina) before transferring at the end of Freshman year. He provided transcripts from both schools; neither school incorporated the coursework from the other into his GPA; so he had two “separate” GPAs. Don’t worry about that. Transfer apps always ask you to list each school you’ve attended and to provide transcripts from each.

In order to find out why you were rejected and what you could do - one option is to ask your hs GC to speak to the college’s admissions office to get some insight; another option is to call the admissions office yourself - many have transfer admissions officers, most are very nice; tell them that you would really like to go there and ask what would improve your application.

From reading your other thread, I think those SAT’s could be a factor. Have you tried the xiggi method? I would recommend you try that. Your motivation is clearly strong; so if you turn it to prepping for the SAT via the xiggi (or any method you like), that might make a real difference.

Good luck.

but the grades DO follow me, right? an A in english, etc.

do you think i is to early to email them, i wouldn’t want to sound desperate.

How woulf I phrase an email without sounding dumb?
