NFL 2023-24 Discussion Thread

No die hards commenting on the Super Bowl on this thread? (I see the ones on the snack thread)

All I can say is two things - no, make that three:

  1. Both teams did not bring their “A” games.
2.These are the 2 best teams the NFL had to offer for the Super Bowl this year?
  2. I have to wonder what would have happened if the Lions team of late had been on the field with either of those teams and how they played last night. I think there’s a chance Lion fans would be winners this morning.

2/3 of the game was so dull we were exploring Cartoon Network or whatever channel that was that Spongebob was part of the Super Bowl announcing team…

Yes! One would think an overtime game would be exciting. But they just looked like they were going through the motions the entire game. So boring.

Awful commercials, terrible halftime show (with disgusting misogyny). Not impressed.

I only watched a part of the halftime show which is usually my favorite part.

I thought the game was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Two very well matched and talented teams…and this game could have gone either way right until the last minute.

I do think these are two of the BEST young quarterbacks the NFL has seen in years. I was hoping Brock Purdy would get the win.

ETA…good food always helps when watching these games!!

Hopefully Taylor and Travis break up before the 2024-25 season kicks off.

What will be the title of this break up song?

It was a defensive struggle, SF defense stopped and confused KC for the first half.

I know that lots of points are exciting but there’s an argument that defense can make for a boring yet productive game.

I didn’t mind the halftime. Didn’t watch many commercials.

And I don’t understand all the Taylor and Travis hate. They seem happy, I’m happy.

I enjoyed the game. You don’t need lots of points to make a game exciting.

I wasn’t thrilled with Usher. Too much slow stuff.

I liked almost all of the commercials.

I hope Taylor and Travis get married and have lots of babies and that the haters stew in their own juices.

We enjoyed the game too. We were at a party where most were SF fans (we are in Southern California).

I agree that Usher sang too many slow songs for the Super Bowl.

I liked many of the commercials (especially the one with the cat!).

I’m for Taylor and Travis too and get sick of all the hate towards her. It’s not her fault the camera crew continue to show her during games.

I think sometimes people forget that there are 11 guys on defense that are just as athletic as the 11 guys on offense. Not every game will be 42-41.

As for Taylor and Travis, I believe they are happy together. The Kelce family was a normal middle class family that happen to have two kids become great in their sport. You can see at heart they are normal people. I think Swift being around them is good as opposed to being around the fake celebrity life. I think both Taylor and Travis are maturing. Neither of them have anything to prove to anyone. I hope after the hoopla of the super bowl calms down he goes to her concerts and supports her. He already did it once in Brazil.

I’m feeling crushed this morning.

I was attending a watch party in SF and was all ready to begin rioting after a win. (jk)

I loved this superbowl (and not just because my team won )

Why?

  • two amazing and very well matched teams. Not a lopsided game at all. Each team had to fight for every point. Two of the best teams in the league duking it out. That’s what a Super Bowl is supposed to be all about.
  • no controversial penalty calls or no-calls affecting the game. It was clean and the refs finally let the players decide the game.
  • usually all the glory goes to the quarterbacks and the offensive playmakers. But the defensive teams really carried this game on their backs. I know many people thought the game was boring because it wasn’t high scoring - but that’s a testament to both Ds.

Oh, dear.

Meanwhile, maybe it’s the Taylor effect?
