NFL Draft ...

The NFL draft starts in six minutes. Who do you think your team will choose? With the number eight pick in the first round, the Tennessee Titans choose Nick Fairley. (that’s my guess for our first choice)

GO TITANS!

I have a rule that I don’t pay a moment’s attention to the pre-draft prognostication. We won’t know if any of these guys are worth a darn for a year or two.

I enjoy watching and, frankly, I’m starved for anything football right now. I hope the lockout remains lifted. I’m ready for some free-agency action … we’re desperate for a QB.

SF didn’t take Blaine Gabbert, so maybe we’ll snap him up instead of Fairley.

GO TITANS AND EAGLES.

I could have gone to a special draft event at LP Field this evening with food, entertainment and the draft stuff on the jumbotron, but I decided not to. It might have been fun, though.

Disappointed the Falcons ended up with Julio Jones… if they could have somehow maneuvered into position to get AJ Green, that’d be awesome. Still, JJ is solid and we’re gonna need someone who can step up as Roddy White gets older (lol).

That would have been a fun event, MOWC! I told my husband before the lockout was lifted that if we didn’t have football this season, I’d have to go over and sit in our parking lot on Sundays and stare at my seat in the stadium.

We selected Jake Locker … I hope he’s a good fit! Someone on TV just called him the “anti Vince Young”. That’s a good enough endorsement for me!!!

Well…I heard my husband say that he was dissapointed that they took him, because he wanted him for his team, so I would say you made a good choice, ha

What team is your husband’s, faithfirst?

It’ll be interesting to see how Locker does in the NFL, considering how his college production never matched the hype.

I sure hope he works out. We don’t need another Vince Young.

The Vikings take Christian Ponder. I am surprised at that one. He’s short. 6’2".

Taking Ponder is a huge reach. Not sure what they’re thinking there.

Detroit takes Nick Fairley… they’ll have a hell of a DL in a few years.

Notice where five of the first six picks played … that’s right, the SEC! :)

The Jake Locker pick is getting slammed on Twitter. They are saying thet we managed to get the only QB in America less accurate than Vince. However, one of my friends thinks he is very coachable and will need a year to develop.

Since the UW is my alma mater, I followed Jake Locker’s career. I think you Tennessee TItans will be pleasantly surprised after a year. The kid’s got heart. Not many with his talent stay the senior year, especially as he could have been drafted higher last year but he’d made a commitment and kept it. Don’t see a lot of that nowadays.

With the big demand for QBs so far, I would have expected Tyrod Taylor of VT go have been drafted by now.

Mark Ingram still not taken. Crazy

I’d like to make a pool betting on how many of the 1st-round quarterbacks will fail. (I’m betting at least three of the first four.)

I agree that Jake Locker will be a good QB for TN. He reminds me a little of a bigger, right-handed version of Steve Young. He’s one tough kid who will make plays with his running ability when necessary. I thought the segment on ESPN yesterday about him passing on entering the draft last year and the bond he formed with those sick kids was really uplifting. I also like Andy Dalton from TCU. Both will be successful in the NFL, imo. I was shocked that Christian Ponder went so high.

Cam Newton looks the spitting image of JaMarcus Russell.
