NHRP Scholarship Question

A few months ago, I received in the mail a certificate stating that, should I be accepted to Alabama (providing I had at least a 3.5 GPA), I would be granted their NHRP Scholarship. So I applied to their scholarship thing by December 1st, and I thought all was well (given that December 1st is the deadline listed on their website) until I glanced at the paper again and noticed another qualifier–“if admitted by December 1st”.

I definitely had everything /in/ by December 1st, but I’m still waiting on acceptance. Does this mean that I won’t receive the scholarship? :/

Yes, you’re fine. As a matter of fact, Carolyn Rogers said last week that they were still processing kids’ scholarships that applied to the school by Dec 1st. Some who applied to the school by Dec 1st couldn’t make the Dec 1st scholarship deadline because of the delay in their follow-up emails to apply for scholarships, so Alabama gave them extra time for that.

So…you’re fine!

But, to be sure, go ahead and send Mrs. Rogers an email about your concern. Tell her that you applied to the school and applied for the scholarship before the Dec 1st deadline, but haven’t yet rec’s your acceptance.

I don’t know why the paper you got says “accepted,” because the website says “applied.” UA has to go by whatever the latest date is…which is applied. You are fine! :)

BTW…go into mybama and click on the academics tab. If there is a link in the left column (scroll down) about applying to the honors college, then you’ve been accepted. The snail mail may be late in coming with your “official acceptance.”

Okay, thank you! Yeah, I’m not sure why it says “if admitted”, given the different information displayed on their website–but I checked and there is the honors college application link up, so that’s good news, at least. Thanks again!

Good! Congrats!!!

Are you going to apply to the Honors College? If so, and you have any questions, just post them either here or on the Honors College thread (I’ll bump it so you’ll see it.)

Unless you had something that would make them inadmissible to colleges, admission is basically certain for NHRP scholars. It should just say that the application deadline is December 1, but it’s just a quirk. Several of my friends at UA are NHRP scholars and love UA. Like m2ck said, we’ll be happy to answer any questions.
