NHSMI Northwestern music program age limit?

I was under the impression that I could apply having completed by sophomore year of high school in June, but someone just recently told me that I was too young?
Does someone know for sure so I know not to waste my time creating my audition tape?

Hmm. I applied for NHSMI as an incoming sophomore for music composition (I was rejected, haha… didn’t want to go anyhow, I found out later everything was classically-based). As implied, they didn’t not evaluate my audition tape, but gave it a thorough look-see and figured out I wasn’t suited for what they were looking for. You could always e-mail them yourself - usually summer programs are pretty good about timely feedback.

The summer program name IS Northwestern high school music institute, so I wouldn’t sweat it. Unless you’ve skipped three grades and are currently 12, I don’t see how they could have any objections. Good luck!

my sister applied, got in, and went the summer after sophomore year and had an AMAZING time
