NIH grants?

one of my fathers co-workers told me that her husband, a doctor at NYBC is willing to sponsor me for a NIH grant… i’m not exactly sure of how this works. has anyone submitted a grant proposal before?

I have the same question and am likewise interested in writing an individual grant. I have read that Staticsoliloquy has done something like that. Any insight from anyone?

Check the NIH website, but be aware that NIH grants are difficult to obtain and rigorous in their review process. Remember that you are competing against the best health researchers in the country for these grants. I am not sure what you have in mind when you say someone is going to sponsor you for a grant.

Haha, grant writing is insane. You should recruit a grant writer or else you don’t stand a chance. Start reading up on IRB’s and research ethics. Basically, if you’re 17, you completely screwed. I am in an intership at a biomed lab and have sat in on an IRB (institutional review board for research). Be prepared to be torn apart by one of these if you want to do some honest to goodness research. I don’t think you know what you’re getting into, no offense.
