Nintendo Wii is freaking awesome!

I picked up my Wii last weekend. Definitely a great experience. I’m looking forward to more innovative software, though, as I think that it has yet to really be tapped for potential.

I came here and complained my boys stood in line overnight at both their colllege towns for wiis to sell on ebay and make a profit. Well, they did it. And then I went out and stood in line several times at various stores and sold wii’s on ebay and MADE A BUNDLE. I had SO much fun. Yeah, one son really likes the wii, other is too busy with coursework right now. Maybe I should go out and stand in line again !

Currently working on getting the Wii controller to control my Windows based home theater PC via bluetooth. Youtube has some amazing videos on what people are currently doing with the controller.

Rayman, Zelda, sports, monster truck and wario minigames package are all hits at our house.

And S and I did stand outside on lauch night…

Mathmom,
I got our extra controller at Target…but the trick was to keep going back. Everytime I was in Target I would browse the Wii aisle until one day there it was. Of course it was locked so I went to the sales counter to ask a sales person if I could have the controller. He laughed at me and walked away (he must have thought they were sold out). I followed him begging him to go and unlock it for me and he turned and said “you and everyone else want a contoller”. I went and stood by the locked controller until a sales person came down the aisle. Finally an extra controller!

The recently released Wii Play video game comes with a controller…

http://wii.ign.com/articles/754/754534p1.html

If only Wii Play was…good.

But Wii Play + controller is only $10 more than the controller by itself…if you can find it.

That’s true. I suppose it is a $10 game if you want to rationalize it that way.

My S just bought himself a Wii and I am amazed at the ingenuity in how the controller can be used (especially in WarioWare). Just about anything you can do with arms or your head can be virtual-ized, if that’s a word. Grating cheese, hammering nails, hang gliding, washing dishes, sweeping the floor, making a pizza, sharpening pencils - amazing. My S keeps telling me it’s all intuitive and I say maybe for him, but I need a little more time to figure it out! But Zelda is still my all-time favorite game even though I haven’t played from NES days til now. And best of all he used my avatar in Wii Baseball and had me hit home runs at my two times at bat. More than I could ever do in person!

It’s a drag unlocking all the minigames in Mario Party 8 but we have a lot of fun playing them in the minigame tent. Some of the controller moves are amazing.

I just saw where the Wii is becoming very popular in homes for the elderly. They can bowl just like in the good ol days!!!
