D25 got full ride for NJIT CS with honors college. Waiting for other colleges before deciding. Stevens, Rutgers, RPI are in the list.
Full ride is certainly the biggest point. Leaving that aside for this conversation, what are the best aspects of this honors college when it comes to learning and unique career preparation?
Maybe have the student reach to one of their many student ambassadors. Here’s a list but I don’t see contact info.
NJIT does co ops. Many companies prefer this over internships. Experience begets experience -ie makes it easier to get jobs. So if your student participates here and not all want to co-op but that’s the ‘best’ career preparation.
Someone else can answer your questions specific to NJIT or the other schools but in most cases, career centers have standard things - resume prep, sessions on topics like negotiating, hopefully on campus or internet recruiting (handshake for most). Some will have required classes to intro kids to career planning.
But in the end, it’s the kid, not the school. The student has to take advantage of the resources and so many don’t. And the kids often need to extend themselves beyond a school’s offering - ie finding employment on their own.
The full ride is beyond fantastic, especially if it will help your family. Congrats.
Reach out to ask those questions of a student or two (have your student do so) and best of luck.
