<p>I think the OP means that if you got the letter saying that you’re at least a commended, when will you know. I think we get another letter that tells us if we’re a SF in September 2007.</p>
<p>I’m not sure I’ve heard of commended student becoming semifinalists later on (I have no idea what the commended letter said or if it said that commended people can later become SFs), but last year, I only got a letter which said that I was a semifinalist, no commended letter earlier.</p>
<p>Semifinalists are notified in late August, commended students are notified in late September.</p>

<p>No, Semifinalists know earlier than Commended students. I got my Semifinalist package actually just a couple of days after I got back to school last year, when the Commended students knew quite a bit afterwards (maybe in September).</p>
