From the official announcement:

Interesting choice – somebody with no experience in New England boarding schools. Unlike Andover, who chose a boarding school insider to lead the school, NMH chose an outside who will hopefully bring a fresh perspective with him.

Cranbrook Schools and Stevenson School are both boarding/day schools. So, for the last 9 years of his career he’s worked at day schools, but he worked for the first 16 years of his career in boarding schools.

Congratulations, and good luck to the new head!

Actually, the new NMH head has a lot more secondary school experience than Andover’s new head. Looks like a very strong choice. NMH is a school that my Andover daughter thinks would be great for her little sibling, so I take an interest!

So here I sit in my Michigan shirt (Go Blue!) posting on the “Question about NMH” thread my thoughts about this wonderful school that was at the top of our short list last year, and I see that they’ve selected the new head of school from a place so dear to my heart further cementing my high opinion of this outlier. DS chose otherwise, but I will always have a big soft spot in my heart for Northfield Mount Hermon. We wish Mr. Fayroian all the best; looks like a great match both ways.
