I got a letter from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation telling me that I could voluntarily sent information to two colleges as part of being commended. My PSAT score wasn’t too great (207) so I figure I’m not getting in as a semifinalist (from NV).

I don’t have a very strong profile - ranked 1/350 but not from a very competitive school, I scored a 30 when I took my ACT and I haven’t taken my SATs yet. I’ve been in varsity swimming for 3 years and I’ve done some volunteer work but nothing extremely great so far. I am also part of NHS but don’t hold any official positions.

I really want to get into pharmacy after high school and I’ve been looking at the 6-year PharmD programs that accept you right out of HS. I’ve seen many in the east coast but the only one I’ve seen here in the west coast is Oregon State University. They have a direct-entry program to their pharmacy school which ultimately caused me to consider it as my top choice college. I’m listing it as one of my choices.

I’ve looked into the east coast schools and though some of them are really nice, I don’t really want to move all the way over there. The ones that I would actually consider were: Northeastern, Univ of the Sciences in PA and the Mass College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

I know that Northeastern is a really competitive school. Should I put that down as my second choice? Or should I put down USP (which is my top choice in the east coast schools).

I was also told that I could put UNLV as my second choice. It’s my safety school so I’m not really sure if I should waste that spot for it. However, other than OSU, I don’t really have any other school that I really want to go to.

Any ideas?
