No activities and mediocre grades, need scholarship?

<p>I don’t have any activities. I don’t play any sports. I have mediocre grades, and I don’t think my teachers will write good college recommendations (really). I go to a private high school which I’ve always disliked and have never “taken advantage of.” </p>

<p>I also need a scholarship to go to college. Straight up, I am Chinese-American and my dad makes probably 200,000-300,000 per annum. This is just a guess because my parents don’t tell me how much they make. I need a scholarship because my parents have a high standard of living, they need to pay for my older sister’s medical school, and I have a twin who will go to college the same year as I do.</p>

<p>What kinds of colleges should I apply to? Is it right to completely skip over the Ivy League colleges?</p>

<p>There are two kinds of aid. Your parents’ income means it’s unlikely you’ll qualify for need-based aid. Having mediocre grades and recommendations probably will keep you from getting merit-based aid.</p>

<p>Plan to start at a school that takes anyone with a high school diploma. You probably will have to pass placement tests and may need to take remedial classes, which will cost money but won’t count for credit toward a degree. You won’t get into regular classes until you’ve learned what you need to know to pass them.</p>
