No AP Courses

Hello,

Throughout high school, my family faced many hardships. We are low-income and below the poverty line, being a family of 5. So I helped out all four years of my high school doing a lot of jobs and coding for companies. I didn’t do very bad. I just didn’t get to take AP courses because they required a lot of time and that would hinder me from helping my family. Also, APs are offered only junior and senior year so by then I did not have the prerequisites. I explain a lot of this in my additional info. To give more details, I have a 3.7ish gpa and 34 ACT. I am first-gen as well and possibly a URM because I am asian and black. I want to know how bad not having the courses is is going to look. I know so many people have 10+ AP courses, so I am very worried. Thank you for reading this.

You will have many options OP. Your grades and ACT are good. It just probably wont be tippy top. That said, if your guidance counselor knows that you were helping support your family, he/she could add that in their LOR.
